Taxodium distichum is a deciduous conifer (hence the name bald) in the family Cupressaceae. This stately tree can reach heights of 120 feet and widths of 30 feet. Foliage is light and feathery in appearance with a green tinge with a whitish undercarriage in the spring and summer, then turns orange-red into the fall. Bald Cypress thrive in wet conditions, but will perform just as well in moderate conditions.

Bald Cypress are good for the environment as well. It aids in the filtration of pollutants and helps filter sediments in the ground.

This tree stands out in any landscape with its flared trunk and broad pyramidal form and excellent fall color. Even during dormancy this tree will continue to provide color with its reddish-coppery bark and stems.
