Weigela has graced gardens in the western world since explorers introduced it in the mid 1800’s. Generations of gardeners know it will bloom heavily in the late spring and continue to re-bloom sporadically throughout the summer.  It attracts butterflies and hummingbirds, yet deer leave it alone!  What makes Spilled Wine® Weigela florida ‘Bokraspiwi’ USPP 23,781, Can 4,655 so unique among other weigela is its deep burgundy foliage and extremely dwarf size.  Growing only 2-3’ tall and 2-4’ wide, it’s perfect where lower plantings are needed.  Use along a front walkway or sunny garden path, under low windowsills or in narrow panting beds.   The dark burgundy foliage of ‘Spilled Wine’ will be consistent throughout the growing season when placed in a perennial border.  This is a low mounding shrub that can be tucked into sunny spots in small gardens.  Hardy in zones 4-8.
